IT’S A BOOK AFFAIR

12-16 September 2018

Assembly Hall, Jakarta Convention Center

PREFACE

When books become the heart of creativity and activity and when a book fair becomes a honorary title for a wide creative industry’s exhibition, we need more than a book fair. We need a book affair! Indonesia International Book Fair (IIBF) will be held at Plenary Hall, Jakarta Convention Center on 12-16 September 2018. IIBF is a hybrid book fair. It is a mix of B to B and B to C book fair, and it is enriched by some cultural and educations programs. IIBF helps participants to meet the goals and to meet potential business partners. IIBF is not just a book fair, it’s a book affair! SOME FACTS ON INDONESIA Indonesia is the largest market of books and literature in South East Asia. Indonesia has a huge population of more than 270 million people, with more than 10 million residents of Jakarta. A middle class of up to 130 million people with monthly expenditure of US$13 billion. There are more than 1,000 publishers listed as member of IKAPI (Indonesian Publishers Association). There are approx. 40,000 new titles published yearly in which most of the titles are acquired through rights purchases from around the world. In the recent years, international collaborations are also becoming more common among Indonesian publishers. Indonesian is a language that is commonly practiced in Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, Singapore and some parts of Thailand and the Philippines. The ASEAN Economic Community allows Indonesian books to be distributed throughout South East Asian region. About IIBF

IIBF is an annual book exhibition organized by IKAPI. It was established in 1980 under the name of Indonesia Book Fair (IBF). To reach a bigger audience, in 2014 Indonesia Book Fair became Indonesia International Book Fair (IIBF) with Arab Saudi as its first Guest of Honor country, followed by South Korea in 2015 and Malaysia in 2016.

IIBF is a meeting point, a strategic and prestigious event for exhibitors to promote literature, art, culture, and all other creative content, through rights licensing and other means of cooperation.

IIBF 2018 is not just a book fair. It’s a book affair: a rendezvous for international promotions, transactions, as well as interaction among publishers, authors, readers, literary agents, librarians, actresses, educators and other professionals of creative industry in Indonesia.
